No Crying in Radio(NCIR) Sports announcers will describe the action and provide colorful commentary for broadcasts of sporting events at the High School, College, Amateur, and Professional level. Former coaches and players are encouraged to apply for this commentary job or to handle play-by-play duties.
NCIR and Delivering To You LLC is looking to broadcast ALL area football games on our upcoming On-Demand mobile app and website going into the 2020-2021 season. If you have particular knowledge of a certain area please include that information along with a resume. All applicants will be requested to record a sample Play-by-play recording with NCIR giving you all the necessary materials.
Ability to earn more compensation based on advertising and broadcast listener numbers.
Sports Announcer Duties & Responsibilities
This job requires the following abilities and qualities:
Knowledge of the sport being covered, the teams that are playing, and their players.
The ability to quickly summarize what's happening during the game.
The ability to offer commentary on the game.
The ability to banter with your on-air colleagues.
Knowledge of how this particular form of broadcasting works is a plus.
A Sports announcer must combine all of those attributes so the things you say engage the audience and come across as friendly and intelligent. You should let your personality shine through but not interfere with listener enjoyment of the game.
You should also possess the following qualities and abilities:
Excellent and Clear speaking voice: You should be in command of it, speaking clearly and confidently.
Interpersonal skills: You must interact effectively with other on-air talents as well as, in some cases, in-studio/live guests and people who call into the show.
Research: Able and willing to conduct your own research to generate statistics and trivia about the home team and their opponents.
Writing: You may also have to write material for news broadcast or for use on Social Media and Websites.
Technical savvy: Should be able to use the various pieces of technological equipment that will be provided for you.
Work Environment
You will most prominently work in a broadcast booth at stadiums and other sporting venues. Also work in an office-type setting while preparing for broadcasts or writing news updates.
Work Schedule
Since a sports announcer schedule depends on the schedule of the team or sporting events you cover. You must be willing to work at various times of the day and night and on weekends and holidays.
