A kidney transplant replaces a diseased or failing kidney with a healthy one from a living or deceased donor, offering a chance for a better quality of life and potentially longer lifespan compared to dialysis.
During a kidney transplant, the new kidney is placed in the lower abdomen (belly area), on either the right or left side, where it can be easily connected to blood vessels and the bladder.
In 2025, approximately 90,000 people in the United States are waiting for a kidney transplant, with an average wait time of three to five years or longer.
While a kidney transplant is a life-saving treatment for kidney failure, it’s not a cure, and recipients require lifelong medication and ongoing care to prevent rejection and maintain kidney function.
Sadly & Unfortunatly, there’s no cure for CKD. I can only speak 🗣️ for myself and what my journey has reflected. Kidney Transplant has been a great choice for me, have their been bumps in the road , yes 👍 but the reward outweighed any setback, in my case and story!
Direct Donation definitely impacted my life and was how I received my kidney transplant, from my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky to San Antonio, Texas, from an Amazing Family! Please consider being an Organ Donor! 💚♻️
