In support of the San Antonio Missions’ fundraising game for victims of the Texas Hill Country floods, the San Diego Padres and Boston Red Sox will also wear the baseball jerseys of the area’s impacted high schools during batting practice before their game on Aug. 9 at Petco Park in San Diego.

The jerseys will be replicas of those belonging to Center Point High School, Comfort High School, Ingram Tom Moore High School and Kerrville Tivy High School, who have all been affected by the tragic flooding. As previously announced, the Missions will take the field wearing these jerseys during their game against the Springfield Cardinals on Aug. 9 at 7:05 p.m. in San Antonio.

Closure of FM1338 nightly according to the City of Kerrville. Crews are replacing a culvert pipe. Beginning Friday evening through Sunday, FM1338 will close from 9pm to 6am from Faust Street West and Buster Road West. All lanes will re-open daily at 6am. Use Goat Creek Cutoff as a detour through the area.

Chairman of the Texas Transportation Commission passes away suddenly according to TXDot. J Bruce Bugg Jr, 70, passed away on Wednesday. Bugg, who was appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott, has served as the chairman of the Texas Transportation Commission since 2017.

Award winning barbecue master closes up shop in Kerrville after 32 years. Buzzie Hughes is a BBQ Pitmaster winning several awards including tying for Best Brisket in the State by Texas Monthly 2010 and on BBQ Pitmasters, a reality TV Show. Hughes and family made the decision to close the restaurant on Sunday. Although, the brick and mortar is closed, Hughes will keep the food truck in operation on special occasions and will keep the catering business open. The Hughes will now use their time to spend with family.

Stand in the Gap. First Christian Church of Kerrville Fundraiser and Silent Auction is Saturday. 100 percent of monetary donations will go directly towards helping families rebuild in the Texas Hill Country. It’s an afternoon of food, live music, family activities and more from 11am to 3pm. The church at 1900 Goat Creek Road is accepting donations and door prizes.

Texas artist Koe Wetzel headlined a Kerr County Flood Relief Fund benefit on Sunday with a slew of other Texas artists at Irving’s Toyota Music Center. The benefit concert, Stronger Together raised 774,870 dollars.

San Antonio area musicians and Sam’s Burger Joint will hold a benefit concert on Saturday August 9th to provide help for those on the upper Guadalupe most seriously affected by the 2025 flood disaster. The fundraiser will be held at Sam’s at 330 Grayson with continuous singer/songwriter and band performances from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Admission is a $20 donation and all proceeds will go directly to The Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation, a Texas 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, to be distributed to those in need. Tickets and tables can be purchased at samsburgerjoint.com or donations can be made at the door.

The Kerrville Folk Festival has been a connection between San Antonio songwriters and the Kerrville area for over 50 years. Being in close proximity to the disaster, the organization immediately put its facilities into use in support of rescue crews after July 4th and has cancelled its annual October Welcome Home Fest to focus now on direct funding to specific needs in their community. The Executive Director and staff members of the music festival will be on hand in support of the event.

Since 1999 Sam's Burger Joint has been the local venue where headliners from The Kerrville Folk Festival have often performed. It is fitting that San Antonio musicians and The Kerrville Folk Festival would come together here to put our arms around each other as we put a $20 bill in tip bucket for those looking at the hard road to recovery.
