Continuing to share the love and respect
The Hill Country lost a legend the other day.
Pioneering broadcaster Rick Phipps was a major voice in radio and TV in the Kerrville area. He hosted locally-loved shows and spoke with a steady, clear voice that was full of wisdom, friendship, and laughter. He was an advocate for his communities, for the poor and forgotten, for seniors (through his tireless work at the Dietert Center, Kerrville), and for those who wanted to do something more with their lives. He used his airwaves for good every chance he got.
An Air Force veteran who never stopped serving his neighbors, he was also an accomplished musician, playing with the High Toppers and Exit 505, as well as local church bands.
His passing leaves a void in every life he touched. He was a good friend, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a man who never forgot where he came from.
