Prehistoric Pete has a lot more freedom when it comes to choosing what he plays. As a great host he will deliberately add variety to Prehistoric Rock heard on KRBD – he chooses the tunes played. Prehistoric Pete does NOT play the same music every day, or what is commonly called, “SMED.”

Prehistoric Pete has delivered live on air and at times, prerecorded shows, quality programming on a consisten

t basis for 25 years on KNBA, Anchorage, Alaska, and KRBD Ketchikan, Alaska. He’s organized material for each live broadcast as well as responsible for complying with any emergency broadcast protocols that interrupted normal programs. Observed all required records for FCC log work and copyright laws. Answered phones and responded to listeners in a helpful and professional manner. Retrieved and re-filed countless materials from his substantial iTunes library. There are few opportunities in Ketchikan to find new songs and amazing artists on the right radio station. TUNE IN to KRBD FM Saturday Nights between 5 PM – 7 PM and listen to Rock ‘n’ Roll from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Over time, you’ll know where to tune in when you want to hear the Rock ‘n’ Roll and where to go to listen to something new and NOT “SMED”. After all, Rock 'n' roll is a popular music genre that combines elements of rhythm and blues (R&B), jazz, and country music with the addition of electric instruments. Originally associated with youth revolt and transgression, the genre is known for energetic performances, catchy melodies, and often insightful lyrics.

On Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave souls who gave everything for freedoms we often take for granted. At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, we remember not just one fallen hero, but all who served, sacrificed, and were never forgotten. Their courage lives on in the heart of America.

In the United States, Memorial Day in 2026 falls on Monday, May 25, 2026. It is observed on the last Monday of May each year.

Memorial Day is a United States holiday honoring the men and women of the U.S. military who died while serving their country.

It is observed on the last Monday of May each year and is often marked by:

Visiting cemeteries and memorials
Placing flags or flowers on veterans’ graves
Parades and ceremonies
Moments of remembrance for fallen service members

The holiday began after the American Civil War as “Decoration Day,” when communities decorated the graves of soldiers who had died in the war. Over time, it became a national day of remembrance for all American military personnel lost in service.
