Prehistoric Pete

Prehistoric Pete A radio personality, as in an on-air position in radio broadcasting. A radio personality who hosts a You just need to know where to tune in.

Prehistoric Pete has a lot more freedom when it comes to choosing what he plays. As a great host he will deliberately add variety to Prehistoric Rock heard on KRBD – he chooses the tunes played. Prehistoric Pete does NOT play the same music every day, or what is commonly called, “SMED.”

Prehistoric Pete has delivered live on air and at times, prerecorded shows, quality programming on a consisten

t basis for 25 years on KNBA, Anchorage, Alaska, and KRBD Ketchikan, Alaska. He’s organized material for each live broadcast as well as responsible for complying with any emergency broadcast protocols that interrupted normal programs. Observed all required records for FCC log work and copyright laws. Answered phones and responded to listeners in a helpful and professional manner. Retrieved and re-filed countless materials from his substantial iTunes library. There are few opportunities in Ketchikan to find new songs and amazing artists on the right radio station. TUNE IN to KRBD FM Saturday Nights between 5 PM – 7 PM and listen to Rock ‘n’ Roll from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. Over time, you’ll know where to tune in when you want to hear the Rock ‘n’ Roll and where to go to listen to something new and NOT “SMED”. After all, Rock 'n' roll is a popular music genre that combines elements of rhythm and blues (R&B), jazz, and country music with the addition of electric instruments. Originally associated with youth revolt and transgression, the genre is known for energetic performances, catchy melodies, and often insightful lyrics.

Purple Heart Day is observed every August 7 in the United States to honor the men and women who have been wounded or killed in action while serving in the U.S. military.

Here’s the background:

Origin: The Purple Heart traces back to George Washington, who created the “Badge of Military Merit” in 1782 during the Revolutionary War. It was revived in 1932 and renamed the Purple Heart.

Meaning: Awarded to service members injured or killed in combat against an enemy of the United States.

Recognition: It’s not just a medal—it’s a symbol of sacrifice, bravery, and the cost of freedom.

Observance: On August 7, ceremonies are held at veterans’ organizations, military bases, and monuments; flags may be flown, and recipients are honored publicly.
