Cantilever deck removed. What would be a nice way to cover the joist once cut flush?

I'm worried that if we slap a 2x10 up there, it will just create a spot for moisture and bugs. Maybe some type of vinyl trim? I don't feel like paying a mason to come in and reset the brick. Or maybe just slide some bricks in vertically?

How do I attach joists to ledger that's angled? πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”

Deck ledger is currently attached through siding so I'm planning on removing the ledger and the siding and attaching the ledger properly to the rim joist and also adding more joist so they are 16 inch on center.

My question is how will I handle attaching joists the the section of the ledger that's at an angle? Is there a special bracket I can use? Also the end joist appears to be only attached to the rim joist with one lag screw. Is this sufficient or do I need to remove the end joist as well and attach it to the ledger with a hanger bracket?

Help! Think my contractor is wrong. This is how he is hanging the beams. Joists are already attached too so this isn’t temporary.

Am I wrong or is mounting the beams with deck screws a bad idea? Should the posts be notched or cut down and the beams resting on the posts.

How to cut boards that fit between uneven ceiling joists

We're looking to fit wood fiber boards between these wonky ceilings joists, skim over the board and leave the lower face of the beams exposed as a nice ceiling feature. Is there a method or hack to accurately cut the boards?! We can't access the gap from above. Doesn't need to be perfect as we'll be skimming plaster over the top just enough to do a good job!

Rehung the drywall perpendicular to the joists. πŸ€”πŸ™„

With the exception of a blown out corner, how does this look? Hopefully the outlet box at the edge won’t be a big deal. I’d hate to rehang but I figured I’d get feedback before finishing the rest. I plan to stagger the butt joints. I had figured I can just alternate starting the board right to left, etc.

Crack in Garage Beam - Fixable?

The beam itself is a 2x6; you can see where it was notched so that the garage door opener track would fit.

The crack itself is about 12" long and starts at the top corner of the notch created for the garage door track. By the naked eye, you can only really see the crack from the front, but with the camera it's visible from the back, too.

I believe this has been cracked for longer than I've owned the house. I sat that because of that tiny block that is now attached to the beam. It looks like it was put there as a sister to provide strength to the beam. The notch itself now rests on the garage door track, but is currently not affecting the operation of the garage door.

My thought was to put a 4x4 on a bottle jack (I only have a 4-ton bottle jack) and lift the beam until it's about 2-3" higher than it is now, then use two 18" 2x6s and sister them on either side of the crack and fasten together with 3-1/2" nails.

Is this something that I can do on my own? I have my wife to help me, so I'm not flying solo here. But I'm not sure of the dangers involved or if I'm in over my head here.

Any advice or input is appreciated!

Is this significant damage to new ridge beam? πŸ™„πŸ€”

This is a 42 foot long ridge beam spanning my entire great room that just got installed yesterday. It was brand new but came like this. Should this be a cause for concern on the structural integrity? What should I do?
