ADVISORY: from Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority - FKAA: Water Shutdown in part of New Town

👉 Friday, July 25, 8:30 am — 12:30 pm

FKAA is scheduled to shut down water service on the corner of Flagler Avenue and 18th Street, and also at Sunrise Drive and 18th Street on Friday, July 25, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm to replace four valves.

Residents were tagged July 23, and there are no critical facilities, FKAA said.

UPDATE: Repairs are complete, water has been restored.

7:20 pm Wednesday👉 All lanes back open on US 1 after a crash at mile marker 42 that involved multiple vehicles, MCSO said.

“Allow time for traffic to clear,” the sheriff’s office said in a notification just now.

A full roadblock lasted for about one hour and workers were clearing wreckage at about 7 pm, according to MCSO posts.

MCSO hasn’t reported injuries at this time.

A Key West resident spent 10 hours in custody after a federal agent took issue with locals observing and recording an immigration arrest on Monday afternoon.

The local was released at 2 am Tuesday. He wasn’t charged.

2:43 am Tuesday Update: Dan Mathers, the Key West man taken into federal custody Monday afternoon after a verbal dispute with a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent, was released at 2 am Tuesday.

Mathers was not charged.

At about 4:15 pm Monday, Mathers was observing the agent — whose name I haven’t confirmed yet —make an immigration arrest when the CBP agent accused him of threatening him.

The Florida Department of Transportation and the US Transportation Secretary says artwork and "political" messages are distractions that threaten public safety.

Governors were ordered to direct cities to remove such markings or lose state funding.
