📍Monty the cat remains missing - and evidence shows someone snatched him from his block in Key West. His tracker collar was found FIVE miles away on Boca Chica Key.

⚠️ Other cats have gone missing from the same neighborhood.

⚠️ City closing offices at 3 pm Friday

The City of Key West said they will close NON-emergency operations at 3 p.m. today Oct. 2 due to potential localized flooding from continued rainfall and king tides.

All emergency services will continue to operate.

“The early closure is a precautionary measure to prioritize public safety,” the city statement said.

Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services will remain fully operational.

Key West Transit will continue providing service.

City operations are expected to resume Monday, Oct. 5, 2026.

⚠️ Boca Chica Bridge Alert! 10:15 am Friday 10/02👇

The righthand lane of southbound U.S. 1 on the Boca Chica bridge is currently closed — due to some damage to the roadway from thunderstorms and rain moving through the area, MCSO said Friday morning.

“Please use caution driving in the area,” MCSO said. “Road crews are aware and en route.”

Key West got hit by a record daily rainfall of at least 3.64 inches by 5pm, US National Weather Service Key West said.

⚠️‼️Monroe County’s Key West government offices closed Friday due to concerns of flooding.

⛔️ Monroe County government offices in Key West will be closed Friday, Oct. 2 — “because of the potential for additional heavy rainfall and flooding overnight and early Friday morning,” Monroe County BOCC spokeswoman Kristen Livengood said.

Employees are still working: call ahead to any government office you need Friday

🛑 Office closures include:

• Gato Building

• Harvey Government Center

• Commissioner Craig Cates’ office on Whitehead Street

• County Attorney’s office at the Lester Building.

Sergio braved our flooded yard during a break from the rain.

The previous daily rainfall record was 2.50 inches in 1943.

Street flooding was reported across the island.
