Patricia Ashland Linnemayr passed away peacefully in her residence on Friday, Aug. 15. Born on May 22, 1942, to Homer and Harriet (Murry) Ashland, Pat grew up in Rutland, Vermont, and graduated from Rutland High School before attending Green Mountain College.

Back in the 1950s, the city pool on North Main Street wasn’t the only place to swim in Rutland. Another option became available on July 4, 1954, when the Rocky Pond Recreational Area opened. A crowd of about 600 people was there that day.
