Congratulations to our Omega Protein and Ocean Harvesters Student Athlete of the Week, Tyreek Lundy from Northumberland High School. Tyreek was First Team All-District for Quarterback and Defensive Back, First Team All-Region for Quarterback and Defensive Back, and scored 1000 points in his junior season in basketball. He's also performing in the classroom with a 3.34 cumulative GPA. His parents are Katherine Veney and Shawn Redmond. Way to go Tyreek!

JOURNEY FANS!

Steve Perry is saying goodbye to items from his personal archives for a good cause. The original Journey frontman announced a new holiday auction with over 90 pieces of signed personal memorabilia, including instruments, handwritten lyrics for “Separate Ways” and “Only The Young,” along with Perry’s own Diamond RIAA Award for Escape and more. Here's the latest from VDOT on local road conditions...

Middle Peninsula

Primary roads are in minor condition in Essex, Gloucester, King and Queen, King William, Mathews, and Middlesex counties. Secondary roads are in moderate condition in these counties except for Essex, which received lighter snowfall.

In these areas, delay nonessential travel this morning. VDOT crews will continue to plow snow as needed today. Once temperatures rise during the day, plows and treatment materials will be more effective.

Northern Neck

Roads across the Northern Neck region are clear except for Lancaster County, which received heavier snow Monday. Primary roads in Lancaster are clear, but minor conditions exist on secondary roads, especially closer to the White Stone area. Crews remain mobilized in Lancaster to treat roads this morning.

FOR TUESDAY DECEMBER 9, 2025
- Lancaster County Public Schools will operate on a two hour delay and reevaluate in the morning. If schools will be closed you will be notified by 8 AM.
- Mathews County Public Schools will remain closed on Tuesday.
- Middlesex County Public Schools will operate on a two hour delay
- Essex County Public Schools will open two hours late
- Gloucester County Public Schools will operate on a Virtual Learning Day. Students and instructional staff will work virtually.
