2025 has been a lot of things, but it has rarely been boring. As the sun sets on another year, the Miner is making its annual trip down memory lane by taking a look at some of the biggest headlines in Kingman area for the past 12 months.

Although admittedly subjective, this list is compiled based on the input of reporters and editors who have been covering the town on a daily basis over the past month - with an eye on which stories have received the most attention from readers online, and which stories have the potential to impact the area for years to come.

Due to a traffic accident on US 93, the southbound lane of the highway is closed beginning at I-40 and continuing until MM 107, near Wikieup.

With a heavy heart, Mohave County Sheriff's Office announced the loss of K9 Brutus. A four-legged member of the MCSO family who participated in more than 250 deployments, and is responsible for keeping almost two tons of illegal substances off the streets.

A new bill in Arizona would make it illegal for private businesses to require customers or employees to wear a mask or receive any vaccination.

House Bill 2086, prefiled Dec. 22 by Rep. Khyl Powell, R- Gilbert, proposed sweeping changes to Arizona law that would prohibit both government and private entities from mandating masks or vaccines - not just for Covid-19, but for any disease or virus.

The Kingman Marine Corps League's Toys For Tots program wrapped up another successful season in 2025.

Kingman Marine Corps League Commandant Terry Flanigan said 504 families were registered this year, and the toy drive also assisted eight non-profit organizations such as Kingman Air for Abused People, Angel Manor, and Head Start.

Due to the quick thinking of local fire crews and nearby community members, an RV fire that could have claimed multiple residences - and lives - was put out in the nick of time. Though the fire was put out with no injuries, it did claim the life of the RV occupant's pet cat.

A group of them from regional tribes presented a panel Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Bluewater Resort and Casino in Parker. The event, called "Wings of Tradition," was organized by Tommie Miller (quoted above), who hopes to have sparked inspiration and guidance for the generation of dress makers.
