This isn’t Santorini…. ⤵️
1. Santorini is actually the name of the entire island and the island NOT the name of the town the blue domes are in. Santorini is quite big so you may be confused on where to stay! This was new information to me when booking my trip too!
2. Oia is actually the town with the blue domes and the famous area you’ll want to see! I highly recommend staying here because you’ll be able to easily walk to all the best photo spots. It’s the most expensive and the farthest point from the port (30-45mins) but well worth it!
3. There is beach access below the blue domes! I had NO idea there was tbh! Just requires you walk down and back up ALOT of stairs haha
4. There’s also an incredible cliff jumping spot below Oia! Photo 2 is me flipping over Santorini (Oia) and it’s so beautiful
5. You can get a day pass for some of the best pools on the island at certain hotels! Ours was near Oia and had a view of the back side of the island but there are others about 20 mins from Oia with the famous view of the ocean! This way you don’t have to pay the expensive price of those hotels but can still experience the pool
6. The time of year your visit can COMPLETELY make or break your experience here. I had very low expectations for Santorini due to others saying it was horrible and didn’t live up to the hype…. But I think these people either had rent weather (so they visited in the off season) or the crowds were INSANE (so they visited in peak summer season).
I visited in October (shoulder season) and it was PERFECT and exceeded every expectation I had! Especially getting to experience the swimming cove, cliff jump spot and having a beautiful pool to ourselves!
Save this to reference for when you finally get to take that Bucketlist trip to Santorini ✈️🌎💙
