We still feel rural newspapers are an important part of the community. However, we are not immune to what many in the industry are facing. A lot of you probably know that M3 Publishing, LLC owns four weekly newspapers with three in Kansas and one in Oklahoma. We started with the Kingman Leader-Courier in the summer of 2012. Now just 13 years later, all four of our newspapers combined do not total the same number of subscribers we had when we started with in 2012 while the city's population has not gone down that much in the same time frame.
I find it somewhat comical to read comments and questions on some of the community pages where if people would just purchase the newspaper each week they would find the information they are seeking or have their questions answered.
If you are someone that is local and does not subscribe to or purchase the Kingman Leader-Courier regularly at one of our rack locations, I would be very interested in knowing why. You can send me a message on Facebook, email me at [email protected] or come by the office and visit. If there are things the community would like to see in the paper that would help bring subscribers back, we would love to know what we are missing.
