FROM WOODBURY COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT:
The Pierson Community Building will be open 8:00 a.m. – 8:00p.m. Wednesday to serve as a central location for residents seeking assistance.

Residents who need help, including those still without electricity, are encouraged to report to the Community Building so their needs can be documented and addressed. Community officials and volunteers are working to connect residents with available support as quickly as possible. Residents can also call 712-222-4400 to report their recovery needs.

All volunteers must check in and register at the Community Building before beginning any work. This process helps ensure volunteer efforts are coordinated safely and effectively. The tree dump site will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please note that only trees and tree-related debris will be accepted at this location. All other construction debris should be taken to the designated disposal area at the south end of Main Street.

A community meal will be served in front of the Community Building beginning at 11:30 a.m. The meal is available to anyone in need. Approximately 200 meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Yesterday In celebration of National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW) 2026, which runs from May 10–16, 2026, and focuses on the theme "Moments in Bloom", the Kingsley Care Initiatives hosted a car show in their parking lot for the residents. The annual observance of Skilled Nursing Care Week is sponsored by the American Health Care Association (AHCA/NCAL), and celebrates the compassion and dedication of skilled nursing staff while highlighting the meaningful connections with residents and families. The theme of "Moments in Bloom" celebrates how everyday acts of compassion and teamwork help residents, patients, and staff flourish together. Facilities are encouraged to celebrate with activities focused on connection, joy, and the theme of growth. The residents really seemed to enjoy looking at the beautiful reclaimed cars on display. For many it brought dear memories of their past vehicles of their younger days. The residents enjoyed a beautiful day outside despite the wind, and were provided treats by United Bank of Iowa in Kingsley.
