We have a heartwarming update about one of our esteemed alumni, Thomas! 🐱

Thomas lived his entire life of 8 years outside before being trapped by our Community Cat Initiative in August of 2021 with the intention of neutering him and releasing him back to his outdoor home. However, our shelter medical team quickly discovered that he was living with FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) and diabetes, among a few other medical conditions.

Due to his health issues and his laid-back personality, the decision was made that an indoor life would be best for Thomas so that he could get the care he desperately needed.

Thomas was placed with one of our foster volunteers, Lisa, who provided a cozy and safe space for this veteran of the outdoors. Lisa officially adopted Thomas in July of 2022 and we are so happy to report that he is thriving! It has now been a full year since he went into remission from diabetes and he is on a strict meal and snack routine to keep his health in check.

We're so thankful to Lisa, as well as our dedicated team of staff and volunteers, for coming together to make such a difference for this special guy!

A little late to the party, but I finally tested out the internal Gyro stabilization on the BMPCC 6K, and I have to say it’s impressive. The best part of the feature is that it's not baked into the footage and gives you control over the strength if you choose to stabilize. I used stabilization on the first 3 shots in this video, and they look like Gimbal shots, though they were all handheld. For the rest of the shots, I chose not to use the Gyro data that was captured, which is what makes it different than other cameras/lenses that bake the stabilization into the footage. Plan on doing some more testing and a side-by-side comparison of the stabilized and un-stabilized footage soon.
