Mary Liles Eicher’s story “Rosetta’s Ghost” will be in “26 Tales: Appalachian Legends & Ghost Stories.” The book will be out in August.
 
Mary is a native Kentuckian with deep roots in Appalachia and a long fascination with family history. Her work has appeared in The New York Times’ Modern Love column and in the anthology Tiny Love Stories: True Tales of Love in 100 Words or Less. As an educator for more than twenty years, she has taught at high schools and universities across the Midwest and South. She is currently working on her second novel.

Greg Smart’s story “The Happy Hiker” will be in “26 Tales: Appalachian Legends & Ghost Stories.”

Greg is a former youth director and award-winning copywriter. He’s currently an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, serving as a pastor since 2003. He is also a certified soccer referee, a volunteer prison chaplain, and a member of the ACA community. When there’s free time, he’s likely to be out hiking or paddleboarding or watching a horror film. Father to three amazing children, he lives in Pikeville, Tennessee.

Mitzi Dorton’s “Still Here” will be in “26 Tales: Appalachian Legends & Ghost Stories.”
 
She’s the author of “Chief Corn Tassel,” a biography of a Cherokee orator published by Finishing Line Press. Her work has been featured in literary journals such as “Appalachian Places,” “Rattle,” “Poetry South,” “Southern Literary Review,” “OxMag” and “Shadowplay.” The former teacher grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee, and now lives in upstate New York.

Kevin Saylor’s “The Old Baker House” will be in “26 Tales: Appalachian Legends & Ghost Stories.”
 
Kevin was born and raised in Oak Ridge and has deep roots in East Tennessee. He’s an alumni of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he studied creative writing and journalism. He spent 15 years as a columnist for the Knoxville News Sentinel, covering local music, websites, entertainment, and writing the popular Notsville.com parody blog. His stories appeared in Howling Hills’ previous three ghost story anthologies. When not writing about haints and boogers and Civil War era murders, he enjoys reading and traveling. Kevin lives in Knoxville with his wife and their three feral children.
