Some of the top players in professional pickleball are in Bristol this week for the PPA Veolia Bristol Open.

Some of baseball's best were at Bristol Motor Speedway for the Speedway Classic last weekend. Pickleball's best can be seen this week as the Professional Pickleball Association's Veolia Bristol Open is held for a second straight year at the Bristol Sportsplex.

Hard Rock International has issued a statement on the passing of Jim McGlothlin, a major investor and partner in bringing the casino to Bristol, Virginia:

“On behalf of the entire Hard Rock family, we extend our deepest condolences to Mr. McGlothlin’s family and loved ones,” Jim Allen, chairman of Hard Rock International, said in a statement. “His determination, integrity, and generosity left a profound mark on all of us, and his legacy will live on through the incredible impact he made — in Bristol, across Virginia, and in the lives of so many.”

Allen said in the statement Wednesday that McGlothlin was the “living embodiment” of Hard Rock’s guiding principle to Love All, Serve All.
