There is more than most people know about involving axolotls!
So much goes into raising them, keeping track of lineage, test breeding etc!
I have officially begun to help raise test clutches (which has always been my main goal) to help other breeders pin point issues, and not overwhelm them with the abundance of test clutches.
With that being said, 2026 we have chosen to not focus on wholesale. This is so we have extra room, time & resources to help with this cause! Axolotl health has and always will be top priority, and I want to make completely sure that test clutches are the star of the show here, so I can better assist these amazing breeders and what they're doing!
We will still have wholesale available every so often, and I will still be offering individual babies!
I'm not going anywhere, just changing my direction a little π€
On that note....
MERRY CHRISTMAS! I appreciate every single one of you and I hope you have an amazing time with friends and family this week π€
Hi Everyone π©΅
We donβt like making big posts but itβs definitely time for this. We have been receiving tons of messages from people asking questions about lethal recessive genes and our project with testing. We are currently testing for multiple lethal genes such as STS, βshort toe syndromeβ pinhead, microphthalmic and twisted gills. We are more than happy to answer any questions that you may have, so please feel free to keep messaging us and/or our partner CB Axolotls for information.
Regarding eggs and genetic lineages:
We are really trying to focus on preserving and strengthening the lines that we do have. Unfortunately we have been seeing a lot of issues with very commonly used lines, so moving forward we will be doing a ton of testing. For this and numerous other reasons we will not be releasing eggs anymore.
All of our animals are undergoing testing before being deemed up to standard to use as breeding stock to ensure that any babies that we would choose to release as potential breeders or to amazing pet only homes are clear of lethal recessive genes. With that being said, we are not comfortable adding to the current situation that all of us breeders are facing, and we are doing our best to try to preserve lines and not spread problems. Please respect our choices moving forward as we work to help preserve the small gene pool that we have left! Additionally we will not be releasing full genetics when going to pet only homes, just parents names and morphs. Full lineage will be available upon request to breeders. All of these precautions are being undertaken to prevent our project lines from being overused and to reduce accidental inbreeding as much as possible!
We appreciate everyoneβs support in this and hope to have some babies available mid February. We also have a few pairings planned with our babies and some joint pairings with breeders/friends with which we work closely.
