November Sweepstakes at only 3 hours in and the bands are wide open, at least 14 and 21 Mc. At 2 hours in I had 40 of 85 sections, 45 minutes later I have57 worked and 28 remaining. Let's hope 3.5 and 7 Mc are open tonight . . .

I have added this E. F. Johnson Viking II to the shack. This is the cleanest "boat anchor" radio I have ever had. Bob, N5WHT, really knows what he is doing! I have the VFO, the Dow Key relay, a Shure 450 (wired 1/4" TRS w PTT), and the original assembly manual and operation manual. Some consider the Viking II to be the gold standard in plate-modulated AM and CW transmitters. Manufactured between 1952 and 1957, this fully shielded low-TVI unit is factory-equipped in a copper-clad case with beryllium finger stock at the panel junctures. This isn't painted Collins grey and Johnson Brown. Instead, it is powder coated inside and out! Can't wait to get this on the air with my 390A Receiver.
