Brad-Fest rocked Pearson Park all day long on Saturday, October, 21st, to honor the memory and impact of Kinston entrepreneur, Brad Elmore.

The event garnered the support of 75 sponsors in its inaugural year, and successfully brought music back to downtown Kinston in a big way!

Organizers, a group of friends, banded together in the aftermath of a tragedy and brought the town of Kinston something it had been longing for for several years, live music events in the streets of downtown.

Lenoir County faithful made the pilgrimage from all over to bring a homecoming-type feel to the event. Several guests were heard saying they had seen people at this event that they hadn't seen in some 40 years.

The economic impact of this event, and several others, was on full display throughout the weekend, especially in the downtown area.

Congratulations to the entire committee that worked tirelessly to make this event happen.

A Kinston Police Department officer was involved in a vehicle collision after being struck by another vehicle running a stop sign.

The officer's father, Lenoir County Sheriff Jackie Rogers, posted the following on his page on Sunday evening:

"We live in a time that we should thank God for all the blessings that he provides to us daily. Last night was another example of how God works. Carson was working last night in Kinston and a vehicle ran a stop sign and t-boned his vehicle. The impact cause him to strike two utility poles. He is sore and banged up but he is okay.
We also want to thank his shift supervisors, shift partners and emergency personnel for taken care of him. We want to thank everyone that has called and texted today. GOD IS GOOD!!!!"
