On Tuesday, the youth ofJunior Leadership Lenoirr kicked off their first meeting at the Lenoir County Cooperative Extension office! They took part in team-building and critical thinking activities, and even discovered their personality ‘colors’ through the True Colors activity led by our 4-H staff.

Opening Day of our 4-H Down East Dairy Project is here! Youth had a blast today with our friends from Greene & Pitt Counties getting to meet each other and starting to bond with the calves! 🐄💚

Youth will work with these calves weekly learning everything from showmanship and nutrition to animal care and leadership, all leading up to show day in October.

Fun Fact: Jersey cows have been producing rich, creamy milk for over 200 years in the United States! Known for their big brown eyes and gentle nature, they’re a favorite among farmers and showmen alike. 🥰

🐣🐔 From the coop to the hatchery and all the way to the kitchen — our 4-H Poultry Education Summer Fun Camp was egg-citing from start to finish! Campers visited a hatchery and cooked up tasty dishes with fresh eggs. 🍳💚

What a great summer at the Children’s Garden!

Congratulations to the 5 amazing youth who successfully completed the Safe Sitter course with Mrs. Velvet yesterday!

These young leaders spent the day learning essential skills that will help them stay safe, be prepared, and care for younger children with confidence. Through the Safe Sitter program, they gained knowledge in:
✅ Safety skills
✅ First aid and rescue techniques
✅ Child care basics
✅ Business tips for babysitting
✅ How to handle emergencies with confidence

At the end of the class, each participant received a Certificate of Completion and a special Safe Sitter® goodie bag to celebrate their hard work! 🎓👜

Reeling in fun at 4-H Fishing Camp!
Big thanks to NC Wildlife for joining us and providing rods, bait, and expert tips! Our campers had a blast learning how to fish and exploring the great outdoors. 🐟🌿

Fun Fact: Fishing is a game of patience. Quietly waiting without constant movement gives fish the chance to come to your bait. Sometimes, less is more! 🤫🎣
