Our Story

LW Video Production covers professional video and film production. Students receive hands-on experience planning, writing, directing, shooting, editing, and producing videos, short films, public service announcements, and more, using industry-standard, state-of-the-art equipment.

Students also manage and create content for Lake Washington High School’s weekly student broadcast, KANG News. KANG News members learn about every role in a working TV news station and rotate through positions, including news and sports anchors, reporters, writers, and producers. The show is managed by students who serve as Assistant News Director, Executive Producer, Operations Manager, Chief Photographer, and Director/Technical Director.

During the 2019-2020 school year, KANG News team members were honored to welcome mentors Patrick Brown, Brett Jungbluth, and Stu Vitue from Root Sports Northwest, legendary KING 5 News anchors Lori Matsukawa and Dennis Bounds, and videographer Randy Eng. They also received visits from former Seahawks All-Pro Lofa Tatupu, multi-cultural journalist & photographer Jose Moreno, and Warren Etheredge, a film expert, UW instructor, mentor at Red Badge Project, and founder of the Walla Walla Movie Crush festival.
