As we enter Memorial Day weekend, tonight on Free Form Friday, I'll highlight songs about memories. While Memorial Day is a somber day, as we remember soldiers, family and friends who have gone before us, not all memories are sad, and neither will be the music - though I will sprinkle in a few songs in honor of our fallen soldiers as well. Join me for music of memories and soldiers, tonight at 9:00 on Lake Effect Radio.

Tonight on Free Form Friday, we travel back in time half a century for a look back at the year 1976. I’ll highlight music from legendary albums released in ‘76, and with a few exceptions, feature tracks that aren’t the most obvious choices from said records - cuts that don’t get the recognition they deserve for helping to make these albums as great as they are.

I’ve selected today for this 1976 retrospective for a specific reason, and will stray ever so slightly from the bicentennial year to open the show in tribute, but rest assured it’ll be two hours of classic tracks reflecting the spirit of ‘76 the rest of the way, so join me tonight at 9:00 on Lake Effect Radio.

Tonight on Free Form Friday, I’ll pay tribute to the late Dave Mason, who passed away earlier this week.

Though a cofounder of legendary band Traffic and a widely respected musician, Mason was never a major star as a solo act and appeared only on a few Traffic albums, so a tribute show for someone who isn’t a household name may seem a bit much to some, but when you dig in to the full extent of his career, the musicians he played with and songs he played on, it’s fairly astounding.

Tonight we’ll review some of the highlights of his career and hear a cross-section of his music, so join me as we pay homage to this true rock ‘n’ roll troubadour with Feelin’ Alright: A Tribute to Dave Mason, tonight at 9:00 on Lake Effect Radio.

Tomorrow is Vinylthon in the College Radio world (to coincide with Record Store Day), but tonight I’ll get an early jump on things with my pre-Vinylthon All-Vinyl Show, as I spin two hours of tunes direct from vinyl and live from the Dave Cave on Free Form Friday.

I’ve got some great music lined up but requests are welcome; if I have it on vinyl, I’ll play it. So if you dig vinyl, join me as we prep for tomorrow’s dig - as in crate dig - tonight at 9:00 on Lake Effect Radio.
