We would like to express our shock over the news of the sudden shift in programming on WCSB 89.3fm

We are truly disappointed to hear the news of removing the student-led radio station from the airwaves, And for it to come on World College Radio Day, which is a day of celebrate the contributions of college radio. The difference we make in our campus communities and the surrounding communities we serve. Yesterday, in the Northeast Ohio area, it was less of a celebration due to the news that came out around noon. For the students and community volunteers of WCSB have played a huge role in our Northeast Ohio community, making it one of the best in the world with the many stations we have in our area.

College Radio provides students with opportunities to gain skills, knowledge, character and confidence before joining the workforce, whether it's a career in radio, media, or other fields. Besides providing students and community members with a meaningful way to express themselves. It also allows them to make connections and friends with fellow students or community volunteers who have similar ideas or interests. It's horrible to see opportunity like this being taken away.

We honor the legacy of all who gave their hearts to WCSB. Know that many of us in the Northeast Ohio area are here to help in any way possible. Whether it's a way to get you back on air in a different way at first or opening up our studios to you. We are with you

Because in the college radio industry. In tough times, we thrive!

A cough lingers, but feeling much better (and more rested) this week, so here’s a reminder of what’s on tap for Free Form Friday… tonight we celebrate the year 1975 and recognize some great music hitting the half century mark this year. If you dig ‘70s rock, tune in tonight at 9:00 for two+ hours worth on Lake Effect Radio!

(Posting early this week, by the way, as Facebook’s algos suck, and lately it seems posts aren’t seen for days or even a week; posting a few hours early likely won’t make a difference, but I’m giving it a shot. Last week’s post got lots of attention, likely because I made it personal with a story of being under the weather, but I can’t help but wonder where the heck everyone is every other week.)

Tonight on Free Form Friday, it’s an evening of hard rock and metal. Included in the heavy mix will be a dose of grunge; after attending his concert last week, your host will highlight music of Jerry Cantrell, his former band and a few of their grunge peers. We’ll also tribute the recently departed Brent Hinds, formerly of Mastodon, who passed away last month. So get ready for your weekend with a set of hard rock and metal, tonight at 9:00 on Lake Effect Radio.
