When I was 12 years old, I saw the movie Apollo 13 and became interested in space exploration. While gaining an interest in that, I discovered astronomy and became hooked ever since. Since then, I've been studying the stars and the universe and educating myself to better our night sky. I enjoy sharing the things I've learned with others. I also enjoy astrophotography, telescope viewing and the fas
cinations of space. I created this page to share my journey and help educate, share and interest others in astronomy.

Hello Trifid Nebula. Looking all beautiful with your pretty colors! 😻
This is one of my favorite objects to photograph. This is the first time I've taken dark sky photos with my Sky-watcher Esprit 120, so Trifid was definitely on the list.
The Trifid Nebula, also known as Messier 20 (M20) or NGC 6514, is a stunning nebula located in the constellation Sagittarius.
It's a combination of an emission nebula, a reflection nebula, and a dark nebula, with an embedded open star cluster. This object is about 5,200 light years from Earth. That means the light from the object took 5,200 years to travel through space, to Earth through my telescope and into my Camera for this shot. 😱
If we just paused our lives and took a few moments to stargaze, you might find the release you are looking for.

My quick version of The Eagle Nebula, also known as M16. Here you can see the highlights of the famous Pillars of Creation which is gas and dust and a few light years high. That means it takes light around 3 years to travel from the top of the pillars to the bottom. Enjoy!
It was wonderful having the opportunity to do some outreach with America's Astronomer and he signed my copy of his "100 things to see in the Night Sky" book. Dean is a very knowledgeable astronomer and teacher and it was fun to spend a few nights doing telescope viewing with him!
Thank you Dean!!!

When I'm here, I'm at peace. I feel like I'm floating and that all my stress and negativity is lifted away. In the vastness, I feel calm and collected. This hole is actually fulfilling.

Not bad for a camera phone. While having a brief break on night number two it's a quick shot of me looking through my telescope in the Milky Way in the background using my Samsung Galaxy phone. I'm amazed at how far camera friends have come. Still a little too windy to bring out my good rig.
Night number two is fun. And it's still going on as I type this.
