Rams and Pirates intensify rivalry with another thriller. This one sees them both score two, then go two overtimes to try and break that tie. Nope. Knot this night. They traded bull's-eyes, then leads, then crucial cards that set up a final 30-minute man-up situation. Still no clearcut conquer. Both teams stuck on six wins as they proceed toward a Cap 8 Conference rematch down the schedule. Can't wait, because this was absolutely great sport and a fan phenomenal atmosphere.

Despite mathematical odds stacked against it (87-7 scoring differential), Corinth Holders holds more than its own against the favored Titans. In fact, it holds the lead until the last playe of the half. And it held in there until seven minutes to go. That's when the weather intervened and suspension left plenty of suspense in the air.

Aggies and Eagles tripped up by falling flags, but Demaur Emul dodged the downpour three times on long TD journeys. That helped inflate a 20-0 bulge Riley Hill punctures twice during the stretch drive. Also set up a last big defensive stand by Zebulon to preserve the victory. Great game. Best of luck to both clubs.

A great place to open the East Wake Football League campaign was on this proud community field. It was a welcome site for the visitors, too, who turned two Xavier Wilkers Jr. QB TDs into a 12-0 triumph protected by the blue crew defense. Fiercely competitive game and solid effort from both programs. Best of luck on the rest of those promising seasons.

Pirates and Rams closer to home as Eagles, Pride, Wolverines, Caps and Wildcats converge on Zebulon Country Club. The sweltering heat was another hazard to overcome, but some ironed out the mechanics to hit hotter shots. Good luck to all.

Warriors display lethal combination in QB James McCullers Jr. to wideout Davon Perry, as well as a scoring shake with Dinatre Williams. Kaden Short took a kickoff 79 yards. So the explosion capability is certainly there. Too bad the 23 penalties for negative-200 yards were, too. East Wake let Gryphons off the hook late in the half, and those visitors vaulted up and over the challenge. Plenty more blue-and-golden moments ahead.

Knights strike first with defensive TD. They strike again with pick six, but have that nullified by penalty. So The Dale survives a 22-penalty, multiple turnover, overtime ordeal to reach 2-0 on the season. That's after an 0-9 go-round in 2025 that saw it score just 47 the whole campaign. Got 50 so far and SO GOOD! Back on the right track, for sure.

It might not have the distance, but both the Pirates and the Wildcats pushed themselves to the limit in this four-game thriller. The 14-0 combined clubs entering the conflict were tied 44 times and exchanged the lead 20 times in the games. West Johnston twice rallied while behind as Corinth Holders sat on 23 and 24 in games to steal the upperhand. Then it held off a furious Pirate rally at match point, up 24-19. Piper Karr narrowed it to 24-23 with a classic injury-risking plunge into the bleachers for a blind-shot bingo. Wow. Describes the whole county war. These two will be playing for a while. Great clubs.
