Vintage (1984) Star Trek III Collectors Glasses (set of 4)

This is a Vintage Set of Four (4) Star Trek III " The Search For Spock" Glass Tumblers, issued in 1984 by Taco Bell. They are in good condition, no chips or cracks. This complete set includes glasses titled Fal-Tor-Pan, Enterprise Destroyed, Lord-Kruge and Spock Lives. Each glass measures approximately 5-1/2" tall.

Graphics on the glasses are in great shape! This 32 year old set would make a great addition to any Star Trek Fans Collection!

$10 for local pickup, plus shipping if they need to go via the mail (probably another $10).

I found this box mounted compass on Prince Edward Island last fall. I stopped by Gilbert Gillis's because I had seen him on an episode of Canadian Pickers. Gilbert also is an oysterman and has a serving station in his garage. Harvested fresh in the AM and shucked to serve.

I wanted a keepsake of our meeting, so I bought this compass from him.

I need to catch up on documenting things so I will start with this item. Over spring break this year we took a great trip through Tennessee and Kentucky. We stopped in Nashville and visited the Antique Archeology outlet there. More of a tee shirt souvenir outlet for the American Pickers show than anything, but I wanted a keepsake, so I picked this bank safety deposit box. Slides under the sofa well and I may use it to hold the "extra" remotes.

I found a Sextant at a small shop in Rolesville. Need to repair the box and clean the instrument. Added a book on the topic to the mix at Christmas that I found in Half Moon Bay. Learning how to use it is a goal for 2015!

A sextant is an instrument used to measure the angle between any two visible objects. Its primary use is to determine the angle between a celestial object and the horizon which is known as the object's altitude. Using this measurement is known as sighting the object, shooting the object, or taking a sight and it is an essential part of celestial navigation. The angle, and the time when it was measured, can be used to calculate a position line on a nautical or aeronautical chart. Common uses of the sextant include sighting the sun at solar noon and sighting Polaris at night (in the Northern Hemisphere), to find one's latitude. Sighting the height of a landmark can give a measure of distance off and, held horizontally, a sextant can measure angles between objects for a position on a chart.[1] A sextant can also be used to measure the lunar distance between the moon and another celestial object (e.g., star, planet) in order to determine Greenwich Mean Time which is important because it can then be used to determine the longitude.

Artistic interpretation of a Armillary Sphere. I found this one at an Estate Sale. Does not have the function but I like the look of it. I am always interested in scientific instruments, astronomy, navigation, etc.

An armillary sphere (variations are known as spherical astrolabe, armilla, or armil) is a model of objects in the sky (in the celestial sphere), consisting of a spherical framework of rings, centred on Earth, that represent lines of celestial longitude and latitude and other astronomically important features such as the ecliptic. As such, it differs from a celestial globe, which is a smooth sphere whose principal purpose is to map the constellations.
