It’s here. And it’s awesome.

A decade of making content that doesn’t suck has led to this: our 2025 showreel. We’ve spent the past ten years growing, pushing ourselves, and creating with intention. This reel captures the heart of that journey.

While it highlights some of our best work from the past year, it’s really a reflection of every story we’ve told, every frame we’ve captured, and every collaboration we’ve been part of.

We’re proud of the work, but even prouder of the people behind it: our talented crew, creative collaborators, and the incredible clients and partners who make it all possible. We can’t thank you enough.

Knoxville knows how to nurture filmmakers. Last month, we joined that legacy, teaming up with some ultra-talented friends to shoot our proof of concept for FILM FEST KNOX's Elev8or Pitch.

The challenge? Create an eight-minute short and a one-minute pitch, and then (if selected) face a live jury of industry pros for a shot at cash prizes, mentoring, and workshops to help turn the concept into a feature film.

It’s equal parts thrilling and exhausting and exactly the kind of creative stretch we love. Immense gratitude to the cast, crew, location (Little Arrow Outdoor Resort), and everyone who gave their time and artistry to bring our vision to life. Good luck to everyone participating this year!

Happy Birthday to Eli, our resident film buff and the prodigal son of Big Slate! 🎉 From dreaming up intentional, creative concepts to fine-tuning storyboards and drawing out the best performances from talent, he’s a powerhouse director we are so fortunate to have on our crew. His ability to keep the big picture in mind while simultaneously focusing on all the necessary details makes him invaluable on any commercial or narrative film project. Pair that with his quick wit and endless charm, and you’ve got everyone’s best friend on set! 🎬🎂

Our very own Michael Hutcheon hit the 5-year mark at Big Slate, and we couldn’t let it pass without celebrating the man who keeps our production world spinning. From starting out as a producer to now leading as Director of Production, Michael keeps the department running like a well-oiled machine, improving processes, guiding workflows, and managing capacity with precision and care.

He leads the production team with determination and thoughtfulness, always grounded in what’s right. We’re incredibly fortunate to have his steady presence (and legendary Asana skills) on our team. He's also a wickedly talented photographer and drone operator, to top it all off. It’s really hard to capture the impact he’s made throughout his time here, but we are endlessly grateful. Cheers to 5 amazing years, Michael! 🥂

Big Slate Media was created with a simple vision – create content that doesn’t suck. We have a passion for making video content that is relevant and interesting to your target audience. We believe that is the key to a content creation project.

Our Knoxville-based agency began in the summer of 2015 as a production company specializing in aerial film and photography. We quickly blossomed into a full-service production house creating everything from TV commercials to social media ads. While there are plenty of video production companies in our area, we’re one of the few with a strong background in digital marketing. We take that expert knowledge to the table when creating content; helping our clients manage their digital marketing campaigns for the content we’re creating.
