The newly amended ordinance will face a second and final vote from the council on May 26.

Students expressed outrage after UT announced that all Friday exams will be moved to Saturday, May 9.

Provost John Zomchick delivered the message to students via the UT alert system Friday morning.

The Office of the Provost advised students to download study materials, and instructors to prepare alternate exam platforms, in case of another outage.

UPDATE: Canvas is accessible to students less than two hours after the University of Tennessee postponed all exams for Friday, May 8 due to a security threat to Instructure.

“Based on what Instructure has found to date, the data involved appears to include personal information,” the Office of Innovative Technology said in a statement accessible to students on Canvas.

UPDATE: The University of Tennessee has postponed all exams for Friday, May 8 due to a nationwide Canvas outage as a result of a security threat to Instructure.

Students received an email from Provost John Zomchick and Chief Academic Technology Officer Dan Harder at 8:43 p.m. notifying them of this change.
