HAPPY JUNETEENTH!
State Holiday – Juneteenth
This day's significance:
It marks the day in 1865 when Union Army General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced General Order No. 3, freeing the last remaining enslaved people in the Confederacy—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Let's all celebrate this day as the day that everyone from that day forward, would always have the opportunity to be who they want to be in life and have what they want to have in life by working hard to realize those dreams and aspirations.
In the words of Booker T. Washington: “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life rather than by the obstacles which he has overcome to get there.”
