Part 2 Meet Recap: SQUATS!!!

Seriously so happy with this PR.

One year ago, 220 lbs was weak, high, and nowhere close to powerlifting depth. This weekend, I squatted 242.5 lbs / 110kg to solid depth on the platform for a platform PR and TN state record.

Squats used to be my least favorite lift, but honestly… I am starting to love them. I also know this is the lift with the MOST room to grow, and I cannot wait to build and see what I can do at my next meet.

Huge thank you to my coach for helping me feel confident under the bar. I can feel this lift growing, and I know I have so much more in me. Thankfully, she sees it too. ❤️

Also, thank you to .barbell.productions for running such an amazing meet with .united The energy, the platform, and the experience were incredible.

And thank you so much to for my meet kit and my Contour PR knee sleeves. When I say I LOVE these sleeves for the confidence to get to depth, I mean it. They are like little hugs around my knees and give me that extra confidence boost.

Their gear is unmatched and will always be in my powerlifting bag along with my belt!

Meet recap… and you know I’m starting with deadlifts because that is my favorite lift.

Back in February, I had a 24-second grind with this same weight — 140kg / 308.6 lbs. It ended with 2 reds and 1 white, so it did not count as a platform PR.

I told myself I was coming back for it.
I told everyone I was coming back for it.

And today… I did.

3 white lights and a +7.5kg / 16 lb platform PR. 🥹🤍

At 50 years old, pulling 2x my body weight is something I honestly NEVER imagined I would be able to do on the platform, and I could not be happier with how this meet went.

Full meet recap coming soon because today was AMAZING.

Huge thank you to my coach for always showing me that I am so much stronger than I ever believed. I truly could not do this without you.

Thank you to .barbell.productions for running such an amazing meet for .united The energy, the platform, and the experience were incredible.

And thank you so much to for my meet kit and for believing in me as an athlete. Their gear is unmatched and will always be in my powerlifting bag.

Strong has no age limit, and I am going to keep showing up to show you how strong midlife can be.

Somewhere along the way, the goal stopped being getting smaller.

The goal became seeing just how strong I can get in midlife!

Don’t underestimate what consistency can build.

10 days out from meet day and tonight was my last heavy deadlift day before I step on the platform. The deload starts now.

Today’s top set was my deadlift opener, which will be my first attempt on meet day. The video is 270 lbs (122.5 kg), which was my last recorded warm-up because I didn’t hit record for my top single at 283 lbs (128 kg).

If you’re new here, hi, I’m Tasha. I’m 50 years old and training for my second powerlifting meet this year. Follow along if you need to see more midlife strength in your feed, because you have this and you can do it too.

Meet day is almost here.

14 days out from meet day and all of my super heavy lifts are officially done.

Now it is time to taper.

This week is all about meet openers and today was squat focused.

220 lbs / 100 kg moved exactly how you want an opener to move, and that is always a good day right at the end of Peak 🙌🏻.

Ironically, my squat is finally getting a little glow up. I have built so much more confidence under the bar with heavier weights, and I am really excited to see where my squat is going to be by the end of the year.

The next two weeks are all about movement, blood flow, recovery, and walking onto that platform ready with the best coach

If you’re new here, hi, I’m Tasha. I’m 50 years old and training for my second powerlifting meet in two weeks. Follow along if you need to see strong in midlife more often in your feed because you have this and can do it!

I can say my new contour knee sleeves from are definitely a contributing factor with my confidence and handling heavier weight to depth! I am absolutely loving them! You can find the link in my bio and my code is Fitto50

21 days out from meet day and max week started with squat day.

Squats have always been my arch nemesis.
I don’t know why, but I have always gotten in my head under that bar.

But these past 3 months, I have really challenged my mindset. I have worked hard on building confidence under the bar, trusting my strength, and not letting fear make the lift feel heavier than it is.

And today it paid off.

To depth 🙌🙌

245 lbs / 111 kg squat PR💥
+10 lb / 4.5 kg PR💥

I’ll take it!!! Coached by

I probably had a little more in me, but we are not risking a full-out grind this close to the platform!

My squat may not be as impressive as my deadlift YET , but getting my squat total up is one of my biggest goals this year.

And I know I can do it!

Smiling because I just pulled a 140kg /308.6 lbs deadlift tonight… and this one was BEAUTIFUL 😭🔥

2x my bodyweight at 50 years old. Stronger than I’ve ever been and still building.
24 days out from meet day!

I posted the full pull on my page 🙌🏻

140 KG / 308.6 lbs…
2x my body weight at 50 freakin years old 🔥 Feeling like a bad B tonight!!!

At my last meet in February, this pull was a FULL RPE 12 with a 24 second grind 😵‍💫 (go look at my grid if you want to see the longest deadlift grind of my life 😂)

Tonight I was determined to OWN this weight and prove to myself that I could move it with confidence! I came in knowing I wasn’t leaving without it!
