Remember American Idol singer Angela Martin?
She came up in one of our recent episodes, as she went through some real tragedy in her stint on the show.

She began her auditions in Season 7, and advanced to Hollywood. Unfortunately, her father passed away while she was there. This was in 2008.

She was allowed to return in Season 8, which was shot mostly in 2008 as well. She again advanced to the Hollywood round, but had to withdraw because of legal reasons. I don't think she was ever actually on television in Season 8.

She was allowed to return again in Season 9, which was largely filmed in 2009 and aired in early 2010. In December of 2009, her mother, Viola Martin, went missing in South Chicago on Christmas Eve. Angela's mother was a great supporter of her American Idol journey, caring for Angela's daughter, who had Rett Syndrome. Angela used her spotlight from the show to help bring awareness to her mother's disappearance.

This case is very mysterious, but there are some reasons to believe Viola Martin is still alive. She would be 70 years old now. One thing is for sure: someone knows something. Listen here:
