Country music pioneer David Allan Coe, a central figure in the 1970s outlaw movement, died Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at approximately 5 p.m. ET in a hospital intensive care unit. The 86-year-old songwriter and performer succumbed to mortality following years of declining health, as confirmed by a representative to the Music Universe.

🚨 Statewide Alert System Test – April 2, 2026 🚨

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) will be conducting a statewide test of public alerting systems on Thursday, April 2, 2026.

This test is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency notification tools and will include:
• Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)
• Landline-based notification systems
• Integrated Public Warning Systems

During this time, residents may receive test alerts on their devices. Please be aware that this is only a test.

📞 Unless you are experiencing an emergency, you do not need to call 911 about the alert. Our office is unable to enroll you if you do not receive the test alerts, due to a variety of reasons including individual device settings.
