This dog was picked up at 601 S. Jefferson - La Harpe. Animal control called the number on the tag and left a message, showing he lives in Iola on Buckeye Street and belongs to Richard & Sheila Ivy. If you know his owner, please have them contact city hall 620-365-5956.

Allowing your dog(s) to run freely in the city limits of La Harpe is unlawful and can result in a notice to appear in the La Harpe Municipal Court, but more importantly, if the dog is aggressive, it could seriously injure a walking citizen, a child, the mail carrier, the trashman, etc..
Please do your part as the owner and pay attention to your dog(s)!

A MUST READ!!!!!!
Citizens that are on the city pickup route, please remember the cart provided by Cole's Trash Service is for HOUSEHOLD TRASH ONLY. Cole's will not pickup: leaves, tree branches, furniture, tires, batteries, etc.
If you need that stuff removed from your property, please contact Cole's Trash Service directly and talk to them.
Remember: You can burn your brush as long as you have a burn permit which you can obtain from city hall; burn permits are FREE and good for 10 days.
This morning someone thought they could put a smoldering battery in their dumpster, Cole's picked up the dumpster; after dumping and driving a block they noticed smoke. They immediately knew what had happened and was able to stop a horrible thing from happening!
Your cooperation is EXPECTED! If issues continue, you will be removed from Cole's Trash Service route!

I've had several phone calls asking what the Fuel Adjustment is. Here is an explanation on how that cost changes each month. The charge is reflected on the number of kWh used in that month.

This charge reflects the cost of the fuel (such as coal, natural gas, and uranium) utilized in generating electricity at energy
centers and the purchased power costs reduced by gains from wholesale electric sales. The utilities estimate their costs
quarterly, so the amount can vary throughout the year. On an annual basis, the KCC conducts a true-up audit to verify the
accuracy of the costs and make adjustments if estimates were too high or low. The cost of the fuel purchased by utilities
is a pass-through charge, meaning the utilities pass along the wholesale market charge they pay without a profit or mark-up.
Wholesale natural gas prices, which can significantly affect this charge, are not regulated, a decision made by the U.S.
Congress in the 1980s and are based on available supply and market demand.
