Southeast Colorado will open the 2025 Colorado High School Activities Association State Softball Tournament against La Junta on Friday at 12:15 p.m. on Field A1 at Aurora Sports Park. The winner will advance to face the winner of the contest between Brush and Delta.
It will be the third time the Angels (17-2, 8-0) and the Tigers (12-13, 3-5) have faced off this season. Southeast Colorado swept both Tri Peaks I League games against La Junta, a 12-2 home victory in late September and a 8-4 win on the road in early October.
In both contests the Angels Anna Wollert earned wins over the Tigers Isabelle Aragon. Each hurler has been the workhorse for their programs.
Wollert has started 17 games, going 15-2, surrendering 90 hits, allowing 41 earned runs, walking 20, and striking out 115. Aragon is 11-9 in 23 starts, giving up 113 hits, surrendering 40 earned runs, walking 76, and striking out 210 hitters.
Offensively, six different Angels have recorded over 20 hits: Kara Wilson and Emma Wollert lead the way with 24; Kennedy Gyurman and Zoe Martinez have 23; Anna Wollert and Lexi Shotton have 22.
La Junta has four that have eclipsed the 20 hit mark: Marlie Gonzales has 27; Ayanna Torrez has 22; Chloe Numez and Madalyn Tafoya have 21.
