👏 Well done to our very own LMPA members for the thorough and dedicated investigation that led to this arrest.
Murder Involving Fentanyl Overdose.
La Marque, TX – On August 2, 2025, the La Marque Police Department responded to Super 8 Motel located at 312 Delaney Rd, regarding an unresponsive individual. Upon arrival, 21 year-old Chase Boone was located in his room. LMPD and LMEMS immediately initiated life-saving measures; however, despite their efforts, Boone was later pronounced deceased.
Detective Kelemen immediately began a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Boone's death. During the investigation of this case the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office determined that Boone died as a result of a fentanyl overdose. Through extensive investigative efforts, Brooklyn Pace was identified as a person of interest in the case.
Following the extensive investigation, the case was presented to the Galveston County District Attorney's Office, which determined there was sufficient evidence to pursue criminal charges. Investigators found that Pace was responsible for selling the lethal dose of fentanyl that caused Boone's death. As a result, Brooklyn Pace was charged with Murder, and bond was set at $200,000.
On May 21, 2026, La Marque PD with the assistance of the DEA and USMS Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force–Galveston, Pace was located and taken into custody without incident.
The La Marque Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting the community and aggressively pursuing those responsible for distributing dangerous narcotics. In cases involving fatal fentanyl overdoses, the department conducts comprehensive investigations and, when evidence establishes that an individual knowingly sold or delivered the fatal dose, pursues those cases as homicide investigations in coordination with prosecutors.
A critical component of these efforts is the department's participation in federal task force operations. The La Marque Police Department assigns experienced detectives as Task Force Officers to work alongside the United States Marshals Service (USMS), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), as well as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
