Postcards from Deia and Stephen’s wedding ✨

Did you know we actually went to school for this? Yep. Film school.

Those film production degrees have played a huge role in how we document wedding days. We learned how to tell a story through movement, lighting, sound, and pacing… and now we get to apply that to real couples instead of classroom projects.

We love photography, but videography brings something you simply can’t get from a still image. It shows moments in real time. It captures the way you walk, talk, laugh, celebrate, and interact without thinking about the camera. It documents not just what happened but how it felt.

Video isn’t just an add-on for us. It’s part of the way we tell a story, and it’s one of our favorite parts of what we do.

If video has ever been on your maybe list… this is your sign to strongly consider it for your wedding day. It’s worth it.

Just a glimpse into Rebecca & Alexander’s wedding day 🤍

A little tip for engaged couples: when you’re booking your photographer, don’t be afraid to ask to see a full wedding gallery.

👉🏼 Most people scroll through Instagram, find a few pretty photos, inquire, and book, all without ever seeing a full gallery. I cannot recommend enough to ask to see a full wedding gallery first. You deserve to get a fulllll glimpse of how your big day will be captured.
It’s the best way to see how a photographer tells the full story, not just the highlight reel.

Photos are the best way to value a moment you’ll never get again.⁠

I know it’s a little cheesy for us, sure, but it’s true and I’ve been thinking a lot about it now that we’re back in the groove of shooting weddings for 2024. We take anything with us when we leave earth, but I can’t think of a more important possession for the time we’re here than photos I have from my life. They’re the most tangible thing we have to look back on, for better or worse.⁠
⁠
That’s the whole reason we take our jobs so seriously. It’s why we have more than a few ways of backing up your images. It’s why we invest money back into our business. It’s why we stay up way way way too late making minor edits to get our films perfect.⁠
⁠
It’s way more than a transaction or a service, it’s actually an event that gets to mark a moment in life you’ll be able to have forever and that’s REALLY important. Just some food for thought as we get ready to create more moments for this special couple over the weekend.⁠

An autumn California golden hour engagement session series to celebrate wedding weekend for K+A!

We love when we book couples like this who give us the opportunity to be a part of their engagement photos and their wedding day. It makes prepping for the wedding even more exciting to know we’ll get to see our clients (and mostly friends) again after already having shot with them before. Usually it feels like we’re picking up right where we left off rather than having our first face to face interaction on the morning of wedding day.

We’ll be back with an even glowier carousel of these two in the next few months, only this time the location will be . ✨

I don’t particularly like social media. I specifically don’t like social media on ushy gushy days like this. I mean it’s really great that you love your significant other and by all means post a photo or video of them doing something cute (especially if we took it, and please for the love of all things good tag us, thx.) I guess I just came on here to remind you to love your partner at all times, you know? Not just on a day like valentine’s day. 🤮⁠

Anyways, love you long time and even though caption writing isn’t my favorite thing to do I will forever and always be committed to “showing up” and “being myself” on feb 14 (even if that means throwing shade). XOXOXOXO - Daniel
