Rich Kids is an improv comedy club at Biola dating back 17 years. Isaac LoCascio, a junior Business and Bible major, is this season’s club president and heads a team of nine members. LoCascio is proud of the spectacular team that makes up Rich Kids’ lineup this year.

On Dec. 5th, President Barry Corey announced on the Think Biblically podcast that The Dwelling, a club for LGBTQ+ and same-sex attracted (SSA) students at Biola, would be permanently discontinued after the Fall 2025 semester. In his conversation with Scott Rae and Sean McDowell, Corey explained that the original intention of The Dwelling was to provide pastoral care, but that recent concerns from online content creators and journalists have led to the decision to close it. Corey said that he has tasked the President’s Council on Discipleship and Spiritual Formation to develop a new model to care for Biola’s same-sex attracted students.

Jordan Chan, similar to every CMA student at Biola, faced his senior thesis as he entered the final semester of his undergrad. However, inspiration for his final project came through a calling from God.

Three years ago, Chan was sitting at a worship night and one of the worship leaders had a word about people who dealt with fatherlessness.

“I felt the Lord say to me, ‘You’re gonna know what the film will be about,’” Chan said. “Once I heard that, the story of a father laying down his life for his son…just came into my brain and I realized this is it. Like, this is what my generation needs to hear…The Fatherless Generation.”

Today, Biola announced a 4% tuition increase from the 2026-2027 academic year for all full-time undergraduate students. The announcement came in the Dec. 9th student newsletter.

“We are committed to continue providing a high-quality education and supportive community,” the newsletter announced. “To further enhance your academic experience, undergraduate full-time tuition will increase by 4% for the 2026-2027 academic year.”

The 4% increase will add approximately $2,000 to annual tuition costs at Biola. Any changes to the cost of room and board and graduate tuition will be announced in January.

It is a well-known fact that the cost to attend Biola is steep. As of the 2025-26 academic year, the estimated cost of tuition, housing, and food is $50,904 a year, with students receiving an estimated $36,000 of that in financial aid. Assuming that students are receiving the estimated amount of financial aid—which is not always the case—students pay around $15,000 a year to attend Biola.

On Dec. 5, Biola students, faculty and alumni alike all gathered on Metzger lawn for the 42nd annual Biola Christmas tree lighting ceremony. At the front, rows of chairs faced the stage, lining the lawn with families and friends standing together and worshipping God, praising and thanking Him for the gift of the newborn baby Jesus. In the rear, children ran gleefully, giggling and shouting, all the while waving their battery-operated candles that flickered in the dim evening, as their parents watched with soft smiles.

Butter brushed rolls and ceramic plateware made this year’s Cafsgiving a success. Caf trays, however, were largely absent from the Nov. 20th spectacle. Known for their sandy hue and Biola emblem, trays are a staple in the Biola Caf, but not because students use them. According to a recent poll, 73% of Biolans have never used a Cafeteria tray. Caf guests, prospective students, and the occasional professor are instantly recognizable because they make use of handy-dandy trays. I’ll admit, it would be easier to snag a tray rather than make multiple trips to and from your table. Despite the ease and simplicity of Caf trays, many students still choose not to pick one up.

Every year, Biola’s Office of Innovation holds their annual Pitch competition for students to submit ideas for a startup and have a chance to win a stipend to help them start their business. At the 2025 competition on Nov. 10th, 35 different pitches were presented to a panel of judges who deliberated the merits of each team’s 1-minute proposal until selecting GAConstructs as the winner.

GAConstructs is a dorm essentials startup run by siblings Gabriel and Abby Carrillo. They specialize in creating 3D-printed items students can utilize to improve their organizational needs including bed hooks, cup holders, headphone stands, and even a book shelf. Their goal is to provide products that can help decrease distractions, as well as increasing productivity and healthy habits.
