Congratulations to Phoenix International School of the Arts "Rising Journalist and Storytelling program. To help students understand the basics of journalism, storytelling, news reporting, and producing a simple newscast. Jax Media Agency and Charles County Journal developed a curriculum designed to be engaging and hands-on, allowing young students to explore their creativity while learning the essential skills of journalism. Throughout the 6-week after-school enrichment program, our student journalists have learned how to:

Discover and research important stories
Write scripts and conduct interviews
Work behind and in front of the camera
Edit and produce a professional news article, video, and podcast.

With each Valentine’s card delivered, Kevin and James hoped to make a lasting impact on the community.

“Our goal was to go out into the community, give these Valentine’s cards, and chip away at that loneliness—one card at a time, one person at a time, one life at a time,” said Kevin.

This initiative was part of a county-wide campaign, Operation Valentine Express. The project brought together over 600 handmade Valentine’s Day cards, created by students from Charles County and the surrounding areas.
