I made a visit to my local free vending machine the other day. I don't know who needs to know this, but food insecurity has impacts far beyond the hunger of an individual. While we should care about everyone who visits this vending machine in Abbeville, LA - The Most Beautiful City in the South! what's also important is our public health. Severe hunger and malnutrition affect the education, health (obviously), and income of those struggling to put food on the table, which in turn affects the economy and well-being of all of us. If we are blessed enough to give, we should; 30% of us are seriously wondering where our next meal will come from and how we can afford quality foodstuffs (OASH). So, instead of thinking much about it, instead of judging, & instead of throwing away your nonperishables because you're not eating them, consider donating everything good to your local food banks like Second Harvest Food Bank - Feeding South Louisiana & Lafayette Community Fridge. If you would like to provide more, get in touch. Let's pledge to fill these and maintain them by the end of 2025.
