An artist of any medium is one of the most valuable roles in society yet society at large deems it as a pastime activity and not a valid career pursuit.
Without artists this world would be just gray buildings and industrial jobs.
Why is that society doesn't value artists and believes this to be a frivolous endeavor? Probably because the narrative's given to us by the leaders of an industrial society that dictate our value comes from our ability to create material wealth for them from our labor.
A major part of my work as an artist is to create a new narrative where being an artist is not only encouraged but a viable career choice.
It's not about everyone being an artist just as it's not about everyone being an entrepreneur or working in the service industry. Simply it's about recognizing the value artists have in tapping into the deeper psychological and emotional levels of humanity. They help provide an example that offers permission for society to explore these depths. It's in the exploration of these depths that we will find the solutions to our current dilemmas.
