🎵 BIG NEWS🎵

The UL Lafayette Traditional Music program's Clifton Chenier Memorial Scholarship just received a $30,000+ boost!

Thanks to the Acadiana Center for the Arts and the Louisiana Music Museum, community support from an incredible sold-out tribute concert at the AcA, a generous $15,000 matching gift from the Gia Maione Prima Foundation and seed funding from Valcour Records, we're set up to support the next generation of zydeco accordion musicians right here at University of Louisiana at Lafayette!

It all started in 2017, after long nights working in local restaurants, when a few friends began gathering to cook, eat and reconnect with their roots — calling it “Gravy Thursdays.”

But telling their story wasn’t enough for La Louisiane Magazine writer Kade Parker. He had to taste it. So, he gathered colleagues for a night of cooking, storytelling, and, of course, gravy — shared over rice, conversation and a love for the Cajun culture that inspired it.

Read Parker’s story at the link below to learn more about the Gravy Boys and for a recipe by Vestal restaurant's executive chef Sullivan Zant to host your very own Gravy Thursday.

What does it take to transform a city while honoring its roots? Lafayette is finding out — and the answer might lie in something we've always had: the powerful connection between our University and our city.

Marie Elizabeth Oliver’s latest piece in La Louisiane magazine takes you inside the ambitious plans reshaping Lafayette’s urban core.

The best part? It’s not just about infrastructure. It's about creating a place where our children will choose to raise their own families. As Downtown Lafayette Inc.'s Kevin Blanchard puts it: "We can't pretend like our kids want to live in the 1970s version of Lafayette, but they don't want to live in Houston either."
