The next generation isn’t just watching us…

They’re becoming who we invite them to be.

On this day, that looked like the two older boys selling some of their own equipment.

To most people, it was just another sale.

To us, it was another chance to teach them confidence, responsibility, and even the value of a dollar.

They were a part of the whole process of buying some equipment, fixing it up a little, taking it to the sale, and watching the bidding process until their pieces were sold.

As parents one of the greatest gifts we can give our kids isn’t doing everything for them, but giving them the confidence to do it themselves.

Because we’re not just raising kids, we’re raising the next generation.

One day, they’ll be the ones making decisions, leading their families, serving their communities, and teaching the generation that follows.

Today, America turns 250.

But freedom isn’t just something we celebrate once a year. It’s found in the simple things, the family traditions, and the opportunity to keep passing this way of life down.

If we believe this way of life is worth celebrating, then it’s also worth protecting.

We’re grateful to raise our boys where they can learn that good things take time, hard work, and responsibility. We hope they’ll grow up knowing the land isn’t just something you own… it’s something you care for, so the next generation has the chance to do the same.

As America celebrates 250 years, my hope is that we don’t just honor our past, but we choose to preserve the people, the land, and the values that helped build this country.

“If farming is so hard, why don’t farmers just quit? Buy 10 acres. Grow your own food. Get a milk cow.”

I’ve seen comments like this a lot.

The truth is, many farmers could survive by growing enough food for their own family.

But that’s not why they farm.
They farm because someone has to feed everyone else.

Every loaf of bread, every gallon of milk, every steak, every ear of corn, every cotton shirt started with someone willing to borrow money, trust the weather, work long days, and hope everything goes right.

Could they walk away?
Maybe…

But then who replaces them?

Every time another farm disappears, we lose more than a business. We lose land to developers and data centers. Land we will never get back. We lose knowledge, stewardship of the land and animals, rural communities, and one more family willing to carry the responsibility of feeding people they’ve never met.

Farming isn’t just a job.
For many, it’s a calling.

And that’s why they keep going.
