Our longtime friend Paula is asking for support while her daughter, Sky, recovers in the hospital following another spinal surgery.

Paula is remaining by Sky’s side, but the missed work, travel expenses, and ongoing household bills are placing an added financial strain on their family. She has created a GoFundMe with a goal of $1,800 to help them through Sky’s hospitalization and recovery.

This Ability Podcast has always believed in the power of community—especially when a family caring for a loved one with disabilities needs to know they are not alone. If you are able, please consider making a donation. Any amount will help. If donating is not possible, sharing the fundraiser and keeping Sky and her family in your prayers would also mean so much.

Let’s surround Paula and Sky with the same compassion and support that our community has shown to so many families over the years. 💜

What a precious memory to have pop up on Facebook! 💜

Several years ago, Lexi and I had the opportunity to film this commercial for Melissa Ritter Family Dentistry & children's dentistry highlighting the patience, compassion, and extra care their team provides to children with special needs.

Although Lexi slept through most of the filming, she was still the star of the commercial—and, of course, the prettiest model ever! 🌟 I am so grateful this memory resurfaced today and gave me another beautiful moment with my girl to smile about and share.

She may have been sleeping, but Lexi’s light always shined brightly. 💜

For so many years, Lexi was at the heart of This Ability Podcast. Her life helped inspire our mission of sharing the stories, experiences, and voices of people with disabilities and the families who love and advocate alongside them. 💜

We would like to share that Masses are being offered in memory of Alexis M. Barbry every Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro through September 23.

Upcoming dates are September 2, 9, 16 & 23. For our local friends, former guests, listeners, disability-community families, and anyone whose life was touched by Lexi, you are warmly invited to attend whenever you are able. Weekday Mass is approximately 30 minutes.

Although This Ability Podcast has come to an end, the reason behind it never will. Lexi's life continues to inspire a message of inclusion, acceptance, dignity, and love.

Reaching out to our followers in Acadiana.

We are ready to find a new home for Lexi's fully electric Hill-Rom hospital bed. It is in very good condition and includes the mattress as well as the pressure-relief air mattress system and pump that we used to help prevent pressure sores.

Because Facebook does not allow medical equipment to be listed through Marketplace or buy/sell groups, I'm simply trying to get the word out to anyone who may know a family looking for this type of equipment.

If you know someone who might be interested, please send us a private message and I can provide the details, photos and information.

Feel free to share this post with anyone you think may be looking for something like this. ❤️

Thank you!
Mary Baudoin

Sensory-friendly Masses hold a very special place in my heart 💜

The photo on this graphic is actually of Lexi and me at Mass, and it is a reminder of why inclusive worship matters so much. Everyone deserves the opportunity to participate in their faith community in a setting where they feel welcomed, understood, and loved.

Several sensory-friendly Masses are scheduled throughout the remainder of 2026 at Our Lady of Fatima in Lafayette and St. Joseph Church in Milton. These Masses are especially welcoming to individuals with sensory needs, disabilities, and their families, but everyone is welcome.

Please share this information with a family, caregiver, teacher, friend, or anyone who may benefit from knowing these opportunities are available in our community.

And if you’ve ever wondered whether you or your loved one would be welcome, I hope the words on this graphic say it best:
You are welcome. You are loved. 💙
