“This scholarship is rooted in faith and gratitude, and represents a lasting commitment to access, belonging, and the belief that every student deserves the opportunity to thrive at UL Lafayette.”

Mary Hooks Baudoin, an alumnus and staff member in the Department of Accounting at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, has established a scholarship in honor of her daughter, Alexis "Lexi" Barbry, who passed away on April 14, 2026, at the age of 28.

The Alexis Barbry Non-Endowed Scholarship in UL LIFE was born from her family’s love and shaped by Lexi's courage. The scholarship will provide financial support to students enrolled in the UL LIFE (Learning Is For Everyone) Program, and Lexi’s memory will continue to uplift others.

This celebration of life slideshow, shown during her funeral service, contains over 600 photographs capturing her journey — from her earliest days as a baby to just weeks before her passing.
Lexi’s life inspired the creation of This Ability Podcast and touched countless people through her strength, joy, resilience, and love.

Through these memories, we hope to honor the incredible impact she had on our family, friends, caregivers, and community.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our family with prayers, messages, kindness, and love during this difficult time. Your compassion means more than words can express.

Though our hearts are broken and we have discontinued the podcast, Lexi’s legacy will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched.

With love,
Mary & Family
