The house we bought is an old farmhouse in a tiny village with two barns, one of which we converted into a rental and the other is now my studio. At 95 meters square, this large space is attached to the house. My husband installed plumbing and electric, we added another large opening to let in more light, filled in the wine vats in the floor, added a new roof using antique tiles, and installed large steelframed windows in the style of traditional ateliers here in France. — Ashley Tinker

When I opened Mystic Ginger, I was in a season of searching. I felt untethered, unsure of where I fully belonged, but I knew I needed somewhere stable, somewhere I could show up as my authentic self without shrinking. In building Mystic Ginger, I built that stability. The space became a vessel for my creativity and my becoming. It gave me a sense of purpose and belonging I was so deeply missing. What began as a studio grew into something more intimate; it became home, for me and for the community forming around it. — Kellie D’Ascenzo

I often describe my studio as what it might look like if you stepped inside my brain or ribcage. It has two large windows and a high ceiling. Dust sheets hang across the ceiling, along with my collection of old baskets and dried flowers. One wall is draped with old linen fabric and saris, while the opposite wall holds my books.

The floor is covered in a patchwork of antique rugs, and there are four wooden tables placed in different areas: one for drawing, one for arranging and styling vignettes, one for writing at my desktop, and one for sewing. The space is a treasure trove of trinkets, found pieces, and anything and everything I find inspiring or believe I may one day use as a prop or material in my work. — Java Ceridwen Bere
