Tropical Weather Update...

Down in the Caribbean, Hurricane Melissa went from a Tropical Storm to a Category 4 storm in less than 24 hours. It is spinning just south of Jamaica and is expected to slowly pass over the island in the next couple of days. Catastrophic damage is likely in Jamaica from the 150 mph winds to major flooding with up to 3 feet of rainfall. Thoughts and prayers for those going through this monster storm. Thankfully it won't have any impact to the United States.

Tropical Update...

Hurricane Humberto and soon to be Imelda are going to do a little dance called the 'Fujiwhara Effect'. Basically, Humberto is going to pull on Imelda, keeping it from hitting the Carolinas. It will still cause some issues along the east coast like flooding rain and beach erosion. It's been a weird hurricane season this year.

For Disney World and the Orlando area, Imelda will being enhanced rain chances early next week, along with windy conditions. Minimal effects as the storms stays off shore.

Tuesday Tropical Update...

We have been very lucky so far this hurricane season. The majority of the storms have remained over the Atlantic. Now that we are in the peak of the season, it's not surprising to see an uptick in activity.

You can from the image there are 3 systems to watch. First is Hurricane Gabrielle that's moving east away from the United States. Second is the tropical wave moving west into the Caribbean. It has a 60% chance of developing. This is the one that might impact Florida next week. Third is a tropical wave further out in the Atlantic. It has a 90% chance of developing. This one won't impact land but could interact with the other tropical wave.

Going to be interesting to see how this plays out. For now, I am not expecting direct impacts to Orland or Disney World but stay tuned for updates!

Wednesday Tropical Update...

After a lull in hurricane season, we are finally starting to see some activity. Way out in the Atlantic Ocean we now have Tropical Depression 7. It's expected to strengthen into Hurricane Gabrielle over the next five to seven days. Good news is it will turn north and stay away from the east coast of the United States.

Remember that hurricane season runs through the end of November so we can't let our guard down yet. πŸŒ€
