Don’t assume every generation wants the exact same Disney vacation.

Ask what THEY actually want to do. Some grandparents want to tackle every single ride from open to close. Others are happiest watching the kids meet characters, soaking in the atmosphere, and enjoying a slow, nice breakfast eating Mickey churro waffles (OK, that might actually be my favorite).

If you’ve been thinking about a cruise but don’t love the idea of flying your whole family to Florida first, put New York-area departures on your 2027 list. 👀

There are some really interesting options depending on what your family is looking for:

-Warm-weather Bahamas & Caribbean escapes
-Bermuda getaways
-Canada & New England sailings
-Larger ships with plenty to do onboard
-And the option to turn your cruise into a longer New York trip

And honestly, I think this is one of those cruise options that gets overlooked because people automatically think, “Florida.”

That’s The Incredible Hulk Coaster in the background at Islands of Adventure… we skipped it, and still had an AMAZING Universal trip. You do not need to ride every single major attraction to have a fantastic vacation.

Skip the things that stress you out, ditch the guilt, and focus entirely on what your family actually cares about, whether that means spending three hours in the Wizarding World, riding your favorite coaster three times in a row, or just hanging by the resort pool.

Here’s the exact Portofino Bay room location from my last Universal trip! A real-life lesson in room requests: I asked for 1st floor near the water taxi, and ended up on the 3rd floor at the absolute end of the hall in basically another zip code.

Room requests are always subject to availability, which is why having a strategy, and realistic expectations, is key when booking resort rooms!

Stepping out of my comfort zone as an introvert isn’t always easy, especially in the world of travel planning where it feels like everyone is fighting for attention! 🫣

If you have been wondering whether to add Epic Universe to your next Orlando vacation, the answer is yes and it is easier to pull off than you think. Epic Universe complements a Disney vacation perfectly because it gives you Harry Potter, Nintendo, Dark Universe, and How To Train Your Dragon all in one place, and Disney simply does not have that. Just don't schedule it right after a heavy Disney park day because you are going to need your energy!
