This Disney D23 felt a little different. We didn’t get the same earth shattering announcements we got two years ago but we did get something just as valuable real details about projects we’ve already been excited about. And honestly? I left hyped.
My biggest announcement: Dreamfinder and Figment reunited. Journey Into Imagination is being reimagined, Dreamfinder is coming back, and EPCOT keeps becoming that perfect blend of old and new. Incredible.
Then there’s Carousel of Progress: Halloween in the ’80s with Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston as Mother and Father?! Come on. That combination is a no-brainer.
Piston Peak has me over the moon. It’s going to transform Magic Kingdom and bring a kind of storytelling we haven’t experienced at Walt Disney World. And yes, I still need Lightning McQueen casually driving around the park. 😂
Tropical Americas looks stacked: Indy is going spooky, Encanto looks beautiful and having no height requirement makes it even better and those hand carved carousel animals?! Kuzco. Heimlich. Hei Hei. INSANE. Oh, and the Yeti is finally moving again. About time.
Villains Land speaks for itself?! A Maleficent coaster, the Magic Mirror dark ride, and Glenn Close appearing as Cruella. These parks are about to reach another level.
Monstropolis beginning its phased opening in 2027 is another win. Hollywood Studios needs that space back, and watching Harryhausen’s animatronic sushi chef work is such a wonderfully weird detail.
And I’m very curious about the Spaceship Earth reimagining. Will I miss the current version? Absolutely. But we keep moving forward.
