I just finished this painting, after a long absence from painting. So I hope the next one will be better (and straighter). But this one says so much. If you are an artist you see the color black as the background. If you are into physics black is not a color, but darkness is the physical condition where there is a total or near-total absence of photons within the visible spectrum. Then you go into the half full glass or half empty glass discussion. Then you discuss the seemingly loneliness of a glass in a vast empty frame. Or, if you are me - I see some Bulleit Whiskey in a rock glass... so I drank it 🤣🤣🤣

I am going to try painting again. It has been a long time since my last painting. I did fill up the water cups without incident. So first step is done ✔️. Got my music playing in the background (25 or 6 to 4 on now.) Second step is done ✔️. Now I can start slinging paint, or take a break 🤣

I did the Sunday night radio show on LA99 for 14 years. That is how I met Greg. He would call in to request the same song, Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin. He did it so much, I would recognize his phone number on the phone ID. When I saw who was calling I would reach for the Bobby Darin CD. He once asked me about joining the Wes Guidry fan club. I told him it didn't exist. He said "It does now, and I am the President" We became friends right then. I would go to the weekly bonfires which were held in his backyard right after I finished the show.
We would see each other often, from Contraband Days, to overnights on the Garwood, to him coming over to my home bar to partake in my home brew beer, to working on a float for Mardi Gras parade.

I got tired of hearing Mack the Knife, so I recorded a cassette with that song on a loop. It would repeat the song over and over. I gave it to him and he stuck it in his trucks tape player. He never said anything about it, but he did stop requesting that song. 🤣
