The J.J. Hands Library in Lohrville is hosting a "Back to Hogwarts Party" on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, from 6-7:30 p.m.

The event is open to all area students, regardless of school affiliation, and will include a free school supply handout.

It’s been a quick rise for South Central Calhoun’s Tristin Gorden when it comes to the hammer throw.

From just picking it up in competition a little over a month ago, to earning a spot in the USA Track & Field Junior Olympic Championships, Gorden has been on a whirlwind tour.

Our Sports Writer, Brett, caught up with Gorden after the competition.

The Lake City Iowa Pickleball Project was selected as a recipient of the IMT Insurance Community Contest Award, receiving $500 to support their local initiative.

On July 2, 2025, nearly 80 people attended the third annual Field Day at James Hepp's farm near Rockwell City, Iowa.
