LAKE CITY — Lake City has issued a boil water advisory until further notice.

Lake City Administrator Patrick Smith said the city was able to turn its water system back on after temporarily shutting it down Tuesday afternoon.

The shutdown was in response to a water main break near St. Stephen Catholic Church. The cause of the break is unknown at this time.

“It was a quicker and better outcome than expected,” Smith said.

He said the city didn’t completely lose pressure in its water system. However, the boil water advisory is still in effect. The city is hoping the advisory can be lifted sometime on Friday.

Smith explained the city is testing the water for contamination. He said they need two consecutive days of clean test results before the advisory can be lifted.

Lake City is issuing a boil water advisory until further notice.


Lake City Administrator Patrick Smith said the city has shut down its water system in response to a water main break near St. Stephen Catholic Church. The cause of the break is unknown at this time.

Lake City Superintendent and Department of Public Works Manager Ray Vasser is currently digging up the water main to identify the problem. Smith said the city doesn't have a timeline for when the problem will be resolved.
